STUDENT PARKING PERMIT PICK-UP

The line and wait for student permit purchase can get very long the first few days of class. It's best to order your permit online, in advance. Permits ordered online will be waiting in an express pick-up line.

Student purchase/pickup, express pick-up, and temporary permit purchase will be in the Student Union Art Gallery (first floor) Thursday August 14 - Wednesday August 20. Before and after those dates, you may purchase and pick-up your permit in Parking and Transportation Services Office

*Permit enforcement begins. If you do not have a permit, you must park in a visitor area.

Unable to buy a permit by the first day of class?

If you are waiting on a financial aid refund or other funds before you can purchase a permit, you may buy a temporary permit to hold you over. Price is $6 per day for as many days as you think you'll need.

Faculty and Staff permits

The parking office will be open 7:30 am-5pm for faculty and staff needs only:

  • Thursday August 14

  • Friday 15

  • Monday August 18  – Wednesday August 20

Permit Types

  • All parking permits are hangtags with an encoded Radio Frequency ID (RFID) chip to open appropriate gates for your permit type
  • Hangtags must be hung from the rear view mirror or displayed on the windshield on the driver’s side by using a PaTS approved display pouch (available from the PaTS office at no charge)
  • Permit types have specific access

C permit iconCommuter - C

Permit is valid on campus 24 hours a day, seven days a week in all yellow and orange Commuter color coded areas.  RFID chip opens gates at Lot 15 and Cone Deck at 6:00  PM.

C permit iconCommuter - Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday** one semester permits

These permits are an economical option for Commuters who are only required to be on campus for Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday classes. They are valid for one semester, only on the days specified in all yellow and orange Commuter color coded areas.  On all other weekdays, these Commuters must pay to park in Visitor Decks or at meters, even after 6:00  PM. **For two-day combinations other than M/W or T/Th, visit the PaTS office; a customized permit will be created for you.

R permit iconResident – R

Resident permit is valid 24/7 in all blue and orange Resident color coded areas.  RFID chip opens gates at Lot 15, Cone Deck and CRI Deck 1 at 6:00  PM.

Greek Village - G

Greek Village permit is valid 24/7 in Greek Village and orange color coded areas.  RFID chip opens gates at Lot 15, Cone Deck and CRI Deck 1 at 6:00  PM.

Night permit iconNight - N

Night permits are valid after 3:00  PM in all yellow and orange Commuter color coded areas.  RFID chip opens gates at CRI Deck 1 at 3:00  PM and Lot 15 and Cone Deck at 6:00  PM.

L27 permit iconLot 27

L27 permit is valid 24/7 in parking Lot 27 on Toby Creek Road near the Harris Alumni House. Lot 27 is a "walk-in" discounted parking lot, not served by the Campus Shuttle or SafeRide. During holidays and breaks when class is not in session and over the summer, vehicles with L27 permits are allowed to park in areas designated for Commuter permits.

6A permit iconLot 6A

6A permit is valid 24/7 in parking Lot 6A on Cameron Blvd (by John Kirk Rd.). This is a discounted lot served by the Campus Shuttle (Rt. 50 Red Line) during Fall and Spring semesters. On holidays/breaks when class is not in session and over the summer, vehicles with 6A permits are allowed to park in areas designated for Commuter permits.

FS permit iconFaculty/Staff- F/S

Faculty/Staff permits are valid on campus 24/7 in all yellow and orange Commuter color coded areas, and Resident-designated lots except Lot16. The RFID chip will allow entry into all Faculty/Staff gated parking to those who have paid for premium gated F/S access.

Center City Building Permits

Full-time Center City Commuter [CCC] Valid at Center City during registered class time. Also Valid as a full-time Commuter [C] permit on main campus
Center City 2-day Valid two days or two evenings (or combination) per week, only during registered class time. After 3:00  PM, also valid as a Night [N] permit on main campus.
Center City 1-day One day or evening per week, only during registered class time. Not valid on main campus at any time.

Refund Policies for 2014/2015:

  • Students who transfer or withdraw, or those who graduate in December, may apply for a refund. Staff or faculty (excluding payroll deduction) who terminate employment may also request a refund. Under normal circumstances, a refund will be granted.

  • All F/S "Part Time" permits are sold at full price for the entire academic year or prorated for a portion thereof. Staff or faculty who terminate employment may also request a refund. Under normal circumstances, a refund will be granted.

  • Refunds in other circumstances may be granted by the Administrative Officer or an appointed delegate on a case-by-case basis.

  • Refunds are not given after April 15.

  • No refunds are given to Faculty and Staff who pay for a permit by payroll deduction.

  • No parking refunds will be made for Summer School or Night School permits except for students officially withdrawing during the first two weeks of the semester, under which circumstances 90% will be refundable for the unused permit plus an administrative fee.

  • An approved request for a refund will be honored upon proof of liquidation of all debts to The University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

  • A refund will be issued only upon presentation of sufficient permit residue to provide proof of destroyed permit. A refund will be issued by check, mailed to the permit purchaser.
